F.A.S.T. Conference 2023: Expert Insights on the Future of Work
Tahche held F.A.S.T. Conference 2023 last Saturday, May 13, to talk about the future of work. For the event, industry experts and professionals, including Tahche’s CEO, Bryan Luoma, were invited as speakers to share their insights on the innovations and ideas shaping the business landscape.
The conference, streamed live on Tahche Careers’ official Youtube channel, also doubled as an online job fair. On board were Tahche’s HR representatives who received job applications, screened applicants, and conducted interviews during the span of the event.
Speakers tackled various timely topics including revolutionary offshoring practices, ChatGPT, the importance of upskilling, and hybrid work setups. If you missed the event, it’s not too late to learn about the future of work as we share the amazing insights shared by our speakers.
Bryan Luoma – Thriving in the Offshore Industry: A Company’s Resilience in the Face of Adversity
Bryan Luoma, CEO of Tahche, took the stage to share how resilience plays a huge part in survival within the ever-changing landscape of business. Without these trait, global catastrophic events would easily topple a company. Taking steps to learn and adapt new business practices such as hybrid work can keep a business on top of its game. And that is exactly what Tahche did during the COVID-19 pandemic, thus successfully securing its clients’ businesses.
He also shared Tahche’s vision of changing the offshore industry for the better, in favor of building the communities that rely on it. In particular, he noted how the Filipinos in the outsource industry share the same level of skill as professionals in the U.S. yet lack the safety nets and career growth opportunities going into the international stage as freelancers. Tahche aims to improve outsourcing in the Philippines by offering first-class Filipino professionals a first-class outsourcing experience. With Tahche to mediate, they get to work for U.S. businesses directly, with the chance for promotion. All while enjoying healthcare and mandatory government benefits.
Bryan also brought up Tahche’s new initiative to undertake the challenge of revolutionizing offshore hiring through the new Tahche app to be launched in autumn this year. Applicants will be able to upload their resumes on the app, while businesses who want to build a team offshore can browse talent profiles, choose team members, and arrange work setups all in one app.
“We are trying to become a platform where you can submit your resumes and have that same user experience but also get a real job out of it. You know, get a job where you can have an employment agreement, have a job where you can get paid overtime, have a job where you can go on maternity leave and bereavement leave, and all those other social safety nets that the Filipino people require.” – Bryan Luoma, CEO, Tahche
Allan Ngo – ChatGPT: Revolutionizing the Future of Work
Allan Ngo, founder of Digital Solopreneur, shared his insights and experience in using ChatGPT, the new AI tool that took the business world by storm this year. During his talk, he showcased the immense potential of ChatGPT as a transformative tool for content creation and work management. He even demonstrated its different capabilities including how it can be used to create an entire social media content calendar in seconds. Finally, he addressed fears about potential job losses due to AI tools, encouraging workers to change perspective and see these tools as mediums to improve their work capacity and level the playing field at the office.
According to him, automation increases work efficiency and frees up employees to engage in higher-level work, including entrepreneurship and leadership roles. AI tools are simply a part of progress that we have to embrace or risk being left behind.
“We can’t stop progress. That’s one thing. And next is, businesses are always hungry for easy ways to scale and inexpensive productivity solutions. So not only will the world move on, businesses will always think in numbers in the sense that they have to make profit otherwise competitors will. That is something we must accept. “ – Allan Ngo, Founder, Digital Solopreneur
Joel Pamo – The Power of Upskilling: Maximizing Your Employability with Certifications
Joel Pamo, Tahche’s CS Manager and certified Lean Six Sigma green belt, was the third speaker of the event. During his talk, he shared the importance of effective career planning for long-term success, which could be achieved through the consideration of personal passions and objective skills. He also asserted how certifications can be incredibly helpful in improving professional opportunities as they involve upskilling that lets workers stay abreast of the latest developments in their respective fields.
“Nowadays, with the evolution of technology, most companies — even I, myself — would look at candidates that already have that existing certification that they need for a specific position. (…) Having that certificate will also help (…) your ability to learn faster (…) which means improved productivity, which in the corporate world (…) means their ROI of your salary will already be realized.” – Joel Pamo, CS Manager, Tahche
Thea Peralta and MJ Tapia – Driving Business Growth Through Remote and Hybrid Work Setups
Closing the event are Thea Peralta and MJ Tapia, hardworking professionals and entrepreneurs who have been thriving through hybrid work setup. During their panel, they shared personal experiences, including both the challenges (i.e., collaboration) and advantages (i.e., convenience) of remote work. They also shared invaluable insights to make remote and hybrid work easier such as regular touch base meetings and the use of tracking tools and calendars to ensure that team members are always aligned and efficient. Finally, they gave advice to aspiring remote workers and entrepreneurs, emphasizing on the importance of taking advantage of the present.
“Don’t be afraid. Today’s generation is very lucky because they have easy access to the internet. At the same time, they’re very proficient. So make the most out of it. You won’t realize your true potential if you really don’t follow it. Best to start at a young age. Let yourself fail. You might not realize that time moves fast and later on you’re 30. And the last thing you want to do is be that age and realize you haven’t done what you want to do. “ – Thea Peralta, Entrepreneur (translated)
The F.A.S.T. Conference 2023 garnered hundreds of viewers, applicants and learners alike, making the event a resounding success. Through events like this, Tahche hopes to continuously contribute to the development of the offshore industry and the improvement of Filipino professionals’ work life.
