The Philippines leads in global office occupancy, ranking third worldwide
The Philippines has once again solidified its position as a top destination for business operations, ranking third globally in office space occupancy at an impressive 80%. Surpassed only by Singapore (88%) and India (85%), the country’s occupancy rate is well above the global average of 70%. This growth is fueled by the thriving BPO industry, government sector demand, and the rise of flexible workspaces, particularly in Metro Manila, where occupancy hit 85%.
CEO Sound Off: A perfect match for U.S. Businesses
Bryan finds the ranking unsurprising, attributing it to the Philippines’ well-educated, tech-savvy workforce. As a developing country with limited office space and high demand, its occupancy rates naturally reflect these factors. Particularly noteworthy, however, is the country’s rapid development, particularly in cities like Cebu with new office buildings being added each year.
For U.S. businesses, this development is timely. Many companies face challenges with domestic workforces hesitant to return to onsite work. The Philippines offers a viable solution with its onsite workforce that complements U.S. business needs.
Collaboration and innovation in modern offices
Vicky, on the other hand, emphasizes the world-class infrastructure in the Philippines, particularly its abundance of grade A buildings, which provide a professional and conducive environment for businesses.
She also points out the benefits of working in an office, including enhanced collaboration and faster, more accurate information sharing. While she acknowledges the flexibility of remote work, she believes these benefits are undeniable for companies looking to boost efficiency and teamwork.
A thriving opportunity for U.S. offshore operations
With its high office occupancy rate, robust infrastructure, and skilled workforce, the Philippines continues to be a premier destination for offshoring. As the country expands its office spaces and businesses adopt flexible work arrangements, U.S. companies can seize this opportunity to tap into a promising and growing market.
