The Outsourcer’s Update on COVID-19 Vaccines In Cebu

Managing your business overseas is tough especially now, but we are hopeful and thankful for technology used to reduce the harmful effects of the pandemic to the economy. 

 

COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Cebu early in March and were received by health workers first. 

 

Vaccination Stats

 

The Department of Health Region 7 (DOH-7) confirmed 5,634,789 individuals eligible for vaccination in Central Visayas this year. Their target is to vaccinate 70% in 2021 and 30% in 2022.

 

The first vaccine that arrived in the province was Sinovac which came from China. There were a total of 14,200 doses as of March 8. 600 health workers from Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center received the Sinovac vaccines first. 

 

Other vaccines considered by Cebu are AstraZeneca and Covavax.

 

Business Chambers In Cebu Secure Doses

 

The business groups participated in four seminars with vaccine makers and pre-ordered the vaccines  Among the vaccines were Sinovac and Moderna. 

 

More than 100 companies signed a deal to secure vaccines.

 

BPO Companies Secure COVID-19 Vaccines

 

487,200 doses of AstraZeneca will be arriving on March 11. Meanwhile, BPO companies have also secured AstraZeneca doses ahead for their employees. Other BPO companies have also sought Moderna vaccines as a way of helping their employees. Vaccination is an optional benefit for everyone including employees in the healthcare sector. Unused vaccines from BPO companies will be donated to the government.
